Every time I plant a veggie garden, my family decides not to eat the veggies I worked so hard to grow! So I gave up a couple of years ago; veggies are a better value for me to buy frozen veggies and just cook what we eat.

I spent a couple hours in my garden today… getting the flower bed ready, then working on preparing soil in the herb garden. That was time away from my computer… plus I took a four mile walk. Yes, all that is a lot more wholesome than playing video games.

I tried to keep my kids away from video games but by the time they were about 12 I found that very hard as they made friends with other children who had all the worst video games available. I sympathize with all you young parents who try to do the best for your children. We’re living in one very confused, distressed world.

I read an article this morning, while sitting at the doctors, that said roughly “an hour growing veggies with your kids is an hour less of mind numbing video games”. While my children are still too young for video games it kind of instilled in me a desire to start getting them into growing veggies in the garden. It has to be a wholesome pastime doesn’t it?

Good idea, Sunny… I am definitely keeping an eye on the economy news though I’ll also admit that many articles about economics go over my head. I also admit that I dropped out of an economics class in college. I was very pregnant at the time and remember sitting in that class in pain because the baby had some extremity stuck under one of my ribs. Ouch! … but I totally do understand poverty because I’ve lived in it for years, and I know quite a bit about how to thrive and be happy on a low income. I will definitely include more information on how to get through hard times while enjoying life to the max.

I’m a bit scared of canning things myself. I just buy canned food with far away expiry dates.
