Hi, I know some people have a lot of older posts with children. I have one son, now 6, that has had exzema since his birth. Started with the rosy cheeks as a newborn and spread from there as he grew. It became out of control to where he was bloody everywhere, legs, arms, feet, face etc from scratching. I did all the prescribed meds which did help at that moment, but never worked for long, and quite frankly all steroidal creams and foams scared me!!!

Finally one day, I turned back to my old roots, even for my own health and the rest of my family, and started going all fresh fruits and veggie and all natural oils for skin and hair. It worked like a miracle!!! For my then 5 yr old son, who again is 6 now, I used strictly pure extra virgin olive oil on his skin and nothing else. He hasn't had one single breakout now in over year. When his skin gets really dry from the chlorine in pools I mix in pure lanolin oil with the olive oil and use it twice daily on him and he softens right back up.

For anyone with children, I'd definitely try just pure olive oil. It has really worked like a miracle for my one son. Even my other Children use it as a lotion instead of all the chemical based creams you find in stores. Much healthier and work far better than any over the counter products I have ever used!!!!

it's nice to know our son (20 months) isn't the only one. i felt so guilty about putting steroid ointments on him that the doctors were giving us. what goes on your baby, goes in your baby, and that stuff goes right to their liver and kidneys! we didn't use them more than 10 days, though, but still...so i did extensive research, it's never ending when your baby has eczema. i found calendula oil. it worked for a year and 2 months, but now it doesn't do a single thing more than moisturize for a few minutes. i'm willing to try any natural and safe remedy for him. all i hear from doctors is how easy it is to just rub this cream or that cream on him. all of them are petroleum based too, so than would just make him cook :( i'm never asked if i am feeding him cow milk or corn or any wheat gluten etc. just give him a pill, i suppose. i nurse him, and my diet is very strict, so he doesn't get any of that stuff that might flare him up again. it's hard, but we're managing. he isn't miserable anymore, but he still has his itchy moments through out the day. i'm even considering acupuncture for him when he gets a little older. i'm praying the jojoba and helichrysum oils work. thanks for this article. i'm really glad i happened across it :) and of course i will be doing even more research on this for him.

Melinda, I wouldn't put anything on that but olive oil. She's only three years old? I think I'd ask the pediatrician about giving her a biotin supplement. That's what worked best for me.

My daughter who is now 3 was born with a red patch of skin on one of her eyelids. Shortly after this became a loosing battle of eczema. All year long we are treating this especially during the winter. A friend of mine told me to try jojoba oil verses all of those creams the doctors have been giving; which have continued to fail. So we are going to purchase this and now that I have seen your posting I am going to try the mixture. Is there any particular oil that you feel is better for the sensitive eyelid area? Her skin has already became very irritated, cracked, bleeding(due to scratching) and we are just getting into the winter like weather.

I too experienced eczema for the first time when I was pregnant. I get it on my elbows, hands and feet. Gets worse with stress so ordered all the oils as stated over the net and will give it a go, thank you very much!

I've been battling eczema problems for many years and right now I'm fairly close to being eczema free. I know it is just there under the surface on two locations on my body - one on my right hand and one on my left leg. (!) However right now I've got it fairly well under control and I think what is finally doing it for me is a daily Biotin supplement! Biotin, also called Vitamin H, can work better with Vitamin C, Vitamin B5, and Vitamin B12. I've been using Biotin, Vitamin C, and Vitamin B12 every morning and I think this is making my eczema go away. Finally!

Eczema is a strange bird. There are several types so depending on which type you have you may or may not have success with something somebody else did. Atopic eczema is more of a allergy immune response so it's difficult to control it naturally while contact dermatitis or hormonal eczema seems to react better to things like oils.

I tried Neem Oil but even in a carrier oil it irritated my skin. Now I'm trying Rosemary Oil. I wrote another post about eczema here: Natural Eczema Cures.
